Horizons at Dedham Country Day School (DCD) is an academic summer enrichment program that serves low-income Boston and Dedham students. Utilizing DCD facilities, this nonprofit program focuses on closing the achievement gap between low-income elementary school children and their more advantaged peers. Horizons at DCD was founded in 2009 as the first Massachusetts affiliate of the nationwide Horizons network of summer learning programs. Growing by one class annually since its founding, the program now serves approximately 150 students in 10 grades (Pre-K through Grade 8).

Our Mission

Horizons at DCD provides Greater Boston’s underserved youth with an enriching curriculum of academic, arts and cultural experiences for ten consecutive summers. A public-private partnership, Horizons prevents summer decline and closes the achievement gap. With nourished minds, students discover their full potential in school and beyond.

We make a long-term investment in every child that enters our program, promising ten consecutive summers of learning, with additional support throughout high school. The difference with Horizons lies in our commitment to our families, who return to our program for ten consecutive years until their children graduate. This model allows students to feel academically and emotionally supported throughout their most formative years. In addition to helping our students learn and grow during elementary and middle school, our program aims to ensure that every young person feels supported through primary school, secondary school, and beyond.
