Master storyteller Willy Clafiln captivated the attention of DCD students during his visit on Monday. He had middle schoolers belly laughing as he talked about the serendipity that brought him to his career as a story-teller and that augmented and enhanced his stories along the way.
Willy doesn’t just tell stories, he performs them, incorporating voices, props, facial expressions and puppets. Having experienced his share of “story-tellers” as a young boy, Willy talked about (and showed!) the importance of reading your audience and tailoring your delivery to a particular age group. Spending the morning visiting smaller groups of students by grade, including a visit to pre-K and kindergarten, he entranced all ages during his time on campus.
