A colony of toy penguins descended on DCD just in time for the holidays. Pre-K and Kindergarten students paraded their handmade toy penguins through the Lowell Center, led by head penguin Gerry Clifford, their wordworking instructor who was decked out in a tuxedo for the occasion.
For their first time speaking on stage in front of a crowd, our youngest students shared the name of their penguin with the audience, expertly passing the microphone from one student to another.
A treasured holiday tradition, the penguins arrive only every other year, yet there were many students in the audience who raised their hands when asked if they had made one of their own.
The primary students performed some songs and answered questions from the audience. Well done, everyone!
