Big fun, lots of smiles, and help our furry friends! Last Friday DCD 4th graders hosted their Annual Fun Run in support of the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

Despite the rainy cold weather, over 150 runners from grades 1 through 8 braved the hills of Stony Lea and completed the one-mile run, which started and ended at the DCD driveway. Through race entry fees and donations, the 4th grade was able to raise over $1500 for sheltered animals in need.
The Animal Rescue League of Boston is at the center of DCD’s 4th-grade service learning throughout the year. In addition to the fun run, the class conducted a towel and blanket drive and also had an opportunity to visit the ARL to learn about the many furry and sometimes scaly benefactors.

Thank you to Mrs. Kennedy and Ms. Tarkulich for organizing the race, to the 4th-grade parents for the popsicles at the end, and to all the runners who participated in this annual run for the animals!
