Teaming up with Cradles to Crayons on Saturday morning February 2, DCD families came together to sort and organize all of the donations the school had received from the community for its month-long clothing and toy drive to benefit children in the Boston area. DCD has had a long-standing relationship with the Cradles to Crayons organization with our middle school students often spending their volunteer afternoons working at their facility in Brighton.

During this second annual community-wide DCD and Cradles to Crayons morning of service, students, parents, and staff, organized, sorted, and cleaned the contents of 75 plus big purple bags to ready the items for packaging and distribution to the children that Cradles to Crayons serves. Armed with toothbrushes, cleaning supplies, and good eyes for inspecting, volunteers big and small cleaned toys, scrubbed shoes, and made sure clothing was in good shape and organized by gender and size. It was a gratifying morning of coming together to help other children and connecting in a shared purpose. Together we were able to help 955 kids up from 721 last year.  Thank you, DCD Community for your donations of items and time!
