Family, friends, and alumni were on hand for DCD’s annual Thanksgiving Assembly, which took place on Wednesday, Novermber 27, 2013, in the Rand Gymnasium.
The Chamber Ensemble performed “Simple Gifts” accompanied by Fifth Grader Alexander Hiatt on piano. The Ensemble also performed “Cripple Creek” and “Musette.”
Primary School students gave an endearing performance of “Yankee Doodle” and “Five Fat Turkeys.”
Grade Two made their annual presentation on the journey of the Mayflower and the struggles of the early Pilgrims and sang “The Pilgrim Song.”
Soloist Madeleine Jordan, an Eighth Grader, amazed the audience with her pitch-perfect rendition of “The Star Bangled Banner.”
The Combined Choruses, under the direction of Susan Glaser, sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic followed by the Middle School Chorus performing “How Can I Keep from Singing?”
The Assembly concluded with the traditional singing of ‘Cross the Wide Missouri with a record number of young alumni joining in.
