This past Saturday morning, DCD hosted our annual Cradles to Crayons family sorting day—a special day of service to benefit children in the greater Boston area served by the Cradles to Crayons organization (C2C). C2C’s mission is to provide children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive at home, at school, and at play.
Our amazing community of students, families, faculty, and staff came together for a fun morning, sorting clothing, shoes, and books for families in need—and it was a fantastic success! This year, together, DCD sorted 60 55-gallon bags (about 254 13-gallon trash bags) of donations! And, since our first clothing drive in 2018, DCD’s annual collection and sorting has empowered the Dedham community to donate roughly 600 55-gallon bags (estimated 2,538 13-gallon trash bags) of clothing, shoes, and books to Cradles to Crayons!
Thank you to everyone who pitched in, from dropping off donations, to coming to our sorting day! At DCD, we inspire students to become caring citizens, and we are proud of DCD’s commitment to helping Cradles to Crayons!
