Important Dates

You can view the full list of DCD Holidays and Breaks here, but important dates for the first few weeks of school are listed below.

Monday, September 7 | NO SCHOOL – Labor Day

Tuesday, September 8 | 9:00 a.m. New Student and Family Orientation

Wednesday, September 9 | 8:00 a.m. FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Thursday, September 17 | 6:00 p.m. New Parent Dinner

Monday, September 21 | Yom Kippur – NO SCHOOL

Thursday, September 24 | Back to School Night for Middle School (Gr 6-8)

Tuesday, September 29 | Back to School Night for Lower School (PK – Gr 5)

Monday, October 12 | Indigenous Peoples’ Day – NO SCHOOL

Thursday, October 15 | 6:00 p.m. DCD Annual Meeting: All parents should plan to attend!

Thursday, October 22 | Parent/Teacher Conferences – NO SCHOOL

Helpful Information

Arrival/Dismissal Guidelines
Please review drop-off and pick-up procedures here and share with all individuals who are involved with transporting your children.

Dress Code-Daily Guidelines

All clothing must be neat, clean, and in good repair.

Permitted:

• Khaki pants, corduroys, chinos, etc.
• Jeans of any kind
• Athletic pants, including yoga pants and leggings
• Shorts (during fall and spring only – shorts are not permitted between Thanksgiving Break and March Break)
• Skirts and shorts of an appropriate length for school activities
• Collared shirts or t-shirts

Not Permitted:

• Apparel containing profane graphics or language
• Apparel containing language or graphics advocating for or against a particular political candidate, party, movement, or controversial issue as determined by the School
• Wearing hoods or hats inside the school building (students may wear a hooded sweatshirt but must leave the hood down inside)
• Wearing shorts between Thanksgiving and March Break
• PJs
• Flip-flops in the lower school
• Strapless tops or exposed stomachs
• Shorts, skirts and pants that do not allow for freedom of movement or the ability to participate in school activities

Footwear Requirements:
All lower and middle school students must have sneakers for athletics and closed-toe shoes for the woodshop.
