- My first DCD kindergarten class came to my wedding. They all had their picture taken together, and it was in the newspaper!
- In 2014, I was the honored recipient of the new DCD playground. The dedication plaque reads: THE MARY ELLEN MALONEY PLAYGROUND: IN RECOGNITION OF HER LOVE AND DEDICATION TO GENERATIONS OF CHILDREN - 2014
- I have four grown children, all whom had me for a kindergarten teacher at DCD, and five grandbabies!

My favorite thing about DCD is the children, the families, and of course – kindergarten!
I joined DCD in 1980 as the Pre-K and Kindergarten Extended Day teacher. The following year I began my career as a Kindergarten teacher, and from 1987-2024 served as Head of the Primary School. I embrace the DCD motto, ‘Learning Is a Way of Life’ and participate in many professional development opportunities. I am a private Orton Gillingham reading tutor during the summer and after school. I cherish my family and love spending time with my husband, children, and grandchildren. I love children, children’s literature, and I love reading books out loud to children. I love the beach, swimming, and being in the sunshine.
