It was a quintessential spring day this past Sunday, and a great one for a road race! For the second year in a row, DCD was a sponsor of the annual James Joyce Ramble, a wonderful Dedham community event founded in 1984. The race, held in honor of the late Irish author and featuring costumed actors reading from his works along the route, brings attention to human rights and raises money to support the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Like last year, our DCD race volunteers had the choice of joining the running team, hydration team, or DCD tent team at the Endicott Estate, where the race begins and ends.  The DCD community of students, teachers, parents, and family members made a strong showing all over town! Fifteen runners donned their white and maroon t-shirts to compete in the 10K race while another group of volunteers handed out water to thirsty runners on Highland Street at mile 2.

Back at the Endicott Estate, the DCD tent crew entertained children with a fun sand art activity and stories about DCD. Our free DCD frisbees were flying all over the lawn as hundreds of runners and their families reunited after the race to celebrate and play on a beautiful spring day.
