The lights lowered as Mrs. Sidoli introduced the Pre-K class for their annual play entitled “Giggle, Giggle, Quack, Oink, Peep!” Students made their choreographed entrances with kicks and twirls. The plot opened up with Farmer Jackson asking Farmer Swan to look after her farm while she was away on vacation.
Each child introduced themselves as their animal characters, ducks, cows, pigs, and chicks, and then they sang a song about working on the farm to the tune of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad.” Their sweet voices filled the Lowell Center while the audience beamed with delight!
The animals tricked the new farmer into fun activities to get out of their chores including visiting Fenway Park, the movie theater at Legacy Place, and more!
One of the cows said, “The moooovies was so much fun!”
The animals continued to play their tricks until Farmer Swan found Farmer Jackson’s list of chores!
“Uh oh!” exclaimed the animals.
They apologized for their duplicity, and everyone did their part to get all of the farm projects completed. When Farmer Jackson returned from vacation, she was so pleased with the work done that she ordered all of the animals pizza!
With every class performing their own play each year, the drama program plays an integral role in DCD’s academic, art, and public speaking curriculum. Through DCD drama, students think on their feet, build confidence, and develop self-awareness. Congratulations to the Pre-K class on their stellar performance!
