In less than two weeks, DCD alumnus Charlie Bemis ’13, (seen in photo at far right), and son of current DCD Grade 5 teacher Joanna Bemis, will run the Boston Marathon to benefit House of Possibilities, also known as HOPe, a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

“In November 2023, I ran my first Marathon, something I never thought I would be able to do,” Charlie says on his fundraising page. “Not only did I complete it, but I beat my goal time and found it to be one of the most challenging and rewarding things I’ve ever done. In order to take it up a notch for my second marathon, instead of running for myself, I want to run for others. Specifically, for those with autism and other disabilities that the House of Possibilities provides assistance to. With developmentally disabled family members, the work this charity does hits close to home.”

“Join me in raising funds for HOPe, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. With your support, we can provide essential resources, therapy, and programs that empower these individuals and their families. Together, let’s create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.”

DCD is so proud of Charlie’s hard work and dedication to helping others. You can find Charlie’s marathon page here, to learn more about HOPe, and to support Charlie’s run! And on Marathon Monday, make sure to watch for Charlie and cheer him on!
