DCD 4th Graders had a beautiful day for their annual Fun Run to benefit the Animal Rescue League of Boston, Dedham Facility. Having recruited roughly 150 runners from Grades 1 to 8, 4th graders were able to raise $2400 to support the animals in the shelter.  Earlier this year, the class ran a blanket and towel drive for the animals and had the opportunity to tour the shelter to understand the importance of their community service project.

At dismissal time on Friday, this large group of runners gathered in the Lowell Center for a presentation about the ARL and some mass stretching and warming up.  With waves of runners speeding down Sandy Valley Road and through the Stoney Lea circle, there was much camaraderie and competition! Some crossed the finish line on their own and some crossed the finish line arm and arm. Thank you to the runners for supporting this 4th grade community service project and to the parents for providing popsicles and sustenance after the race!
