It may have been cold outside, but the Rand gym was filled with warmth and smiles as DCD kindergartners led the school’s 100th-day celebration in assembly today!

In preparation for the 100th day of school, students had been busy working at home on their special posters. Using their creativity and counting skills, they crafted posters featuring 100 items. Wearing celebratory t-shirts and crowns, they proudly paraded into the assembly, carrying their unique creations.

Each student had the opportunity to exercise their public speaking skills as they stepped up to the microphone to share the items they had chosen to count. There were little wooden hockey sticks, LEGO bricks, mermaids, feathers, gems, snowflakes, hearts, cotton balls, and even some miniature trees! The kindergartners quickly discovered that 100 is a pretty big number!

The celebration continued as students explored different stations and activities set up around the kindergarten classrooms, engaging in more creating and counting. What can you build with 100 cups? What can you create with 100 pattern blocks? Can you design a super track with 100 dominoes? Can you skip count by 5s and 10s to get to 100?

Through all the fun and learning, DCD kindergartners will surely remember the importance—and the magnitude—of 100!
