Ways to Support DCD

Your Gift Makes a Difference

There are many ways to support DCD! We value the gift of your time as a volunteer and we appreciate each donation regardless of its dollar amount. We understand making a charitable gift is a very personal decision and the Advancement office can help guide you determine the impact you want to have on the people and spaces at DCD that are most important to you.

Annual Fund Gift

Annual Fund gifts have a direct and immediate impact on all aspects of DCD and support academics, athletics, arts, financial aid, facilities and campus life. They are not usually invested for the long term, but are used for operating expenses in the same fiscal year they are received. Additionally, the Annual Fund provides the flexibility to respond quickly to new opportunities and unexpected needs.

Endowed Gift

Endowed gifts are a permanent, self-sustaining source of funding.  Each year, a portion of the value of the fund is paid out to support the fund’s purpose, and any earnings in excess of this distribution are used to build the fund’s market value. When you give to an endowment fund that already exists, you create a permanent legacy of support for DCD. See below for descriptions of some of DCD’s restricted and endowed funds.

Restricted & Endowed Fund Descriptions

An ongoing Fund to be used at the discretion of the Head of School for curricular enhancements, professional development, programming, and tools for well-being, technology, facilities, and outdoor spaces

An endowed fund that provides financial aid for deserving students.

This fund was set up in Memory of Tim Jackson after his passing in 2019.  In addition to being a student at DCD, Tim spent more than 40 years as part of DCD’s faculty and staff, serving as a teacher and coach, and served as the school’s business manager from 1985 to 2015.

Established in 2017 the Mimi Harrington Fund honors and celebrates Mimi’s work over the course of 30 years at DCD by supporting literacy, a love of stories, and a reading culture at the school. The fund supports professional development to faculty, provides resources for DCD’s library and classrooms, and offers opportunities for authors or storytellers to come to DCD.

Established in 2001 in honor of Mr. Tynan after 34 years of service to the school. This fund provides financial aid to deserving students entering or in the Upper School.

Established in 1981 by the Klebenov family following the sudden death of Susanna who had been a member of DCD’s Eighth Grade for only a few months. The fund’s income supports Financial Aid.

Established in 2000 by Lucy Lowell Grimm ’40 in honor of her sister. Interest from the fund will be used to support the Arts Department.
