The Eighth Grade Parents' Gift

The Eighth Grade Parents’ Gift, a longstanding tradition at DCD, not only honors our children and leaves a legacy for new generations of DCD children, it gives all of us the opportunity to say “Thank You” to DCD, its faculty, staff and administrators for all that they have done for our kids.

As our most important source of non-tuition revenue, the Annual Fund is critical to fueling the wonder, excitement, and nourishment of curiosity that takes place within (and without) our walls every day. The Eighth Grade Gift is complementary to the Annual Fund and traditionally has a specific focus.

The 2017-18 Eighth Grade Gift was the creation and funding of the Head’s Innovation Fund. The Head’s Innovation Fund is designed as a current-use, spend-down account that will give Allison Webster the ability and flexibility to react to ideas or trends as they arise throughout each school year or to jumpstart any projects in advance of our upcoming strategic plan.

The focus of the 2018-19 Eighth Grade Gift will be on rebuilding and rejuvinating the outdoor patio between the Valentine Center and the Lowell Center. This updated space will be used for student recess, outdoor classes, conversations, and major school receptions including Graduation.
